Darjeeling tourism plan starts once you reach Siliguri or New Jalpaiguri, you can travel via a car, bus or the famous toy train to reach this beautiful place named Darjeeling. Spread over an area of around 11 square kilometers and established in 1850. You can have a delightful experience of the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, and the captivating sun rise from the colossal Kangchenjunga, world's 3rd highest mountain. 

The whistling sound of the steam engines and the scenic beauty throughout your journey would make you love it, at every inch. People who love to click photographs, would never feel bored. The climate and the location made it nominated as a hill station during the British reign. From that time itself, it's been a place to seek refuge from the Indian summer. Till date, the outburst of tourists are most during this period of year. 

Many missionaries have paved the road map to designate it, as the center for education. One would find many quality convent schools here, which still persuade parents to send their children to boarding. 

Tea cultivation is the major part of commercial business here. Some finest quality tea leaves grown here are exported to various countries. 

The vicinity consists of hill towns like Kalimpong, Kurseong & Darjeeling. Darjeeling also falls under the Lesser Himalaya Region. It is also where, you would find the natural habitat of Red Pandas. However, now various conservation projects are working to increase it's rapidly declining population. 

Very famous as the "Queen of Hills", Darjeeling is also popular for its unique cuisines like Momos and Thukpa. Thukpa is another very popular food here, basically originated from Tibet. Nepali is the native language. A huge chunk of population here, speaks in Nepali. However, one might find Bengali as a language also, used widely.
